A wonderful Dana Anne Yee Foundation meeting took place at the Mott Smith Laniloa Pavilion. Nancy Green Miller (from Seattle) and Peter Thompson (from San Francisco) joined us on zoom on a beautiful November 2, 2025 afternoon. All Board Members, Members, and our Consultant attended. Those present were William, Dana. Stephan Doi, Shunya Doi, Jeannie, and Raymond. The joy and happiness for all that we as a non-profit board have accomplished was discusses and celebrated. In 10 years, (a non-profit since February 17, 2016) we have found over 220 new State records of invasive pest species found in the Hawaiian islands, introduced and gifted new Variegated Crown Flower "Dana Anne Yee" plants to 7 of our favorite gardens, and continue to survey for invasive pest species to ultimately keep our beautiful Hawai`i Green. We started a non-profit Crown Flower Society and we are proud that we will be working with the Urban Garden Center at the new Lei Garden which will showcase our Variegated Crown Flower "Dana Anne Yee" plant.

We spoke about our warning to the Hawai`i Community and many stake holders to our islands success, 14 years ago about the invasive Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle (CRB) but they could not hear, would not listen, and dismissed our pleas, despite us offering to trap for CRB's for free (the government said yes and the next day they said no and then the Government received 2 to 5 million and sat on a military compost pile for over 6 months).

We discussed that William and I have been attending many conferences, webinars, and seminars mostly about the Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle but other topics about native spiders and our green industry. The devastation that CRB is causing to Coconuts, Hala, Breadfruit, many plants is tragic and only now 14 years later is everyone up in arms about it and presenting talks and slideshows about CRB. As William says it is too late. Moloka`i has shut down imports to the islands but William questions in chats what about Lana`i and Maui? They do not answer him. We spoke about not eating Coconuts because they are injecting them and the pollinators maybe affected.
We are currently waiting to see if our current grant request from the Atherton Family Foundation will be awarded. We hope that it is good news.

While we wait with anticipation, we enjoyed a meal of family platters of Korean Food from Mama Woos, BBQ chicken wings marinated and grilled by Dana, delicious potato salad by Jeannie, chips, soda, ice cream, and a special Dubai like candy bar.

Everyone present shared the great things that are happening in their families lives including proud successes of board members and their families, remodeling and new land acquisitions, travels, winning World Series happy and not happy members, and meeting to discuss the past and present happenings of our foundation to keep our Hawai`i Green. We are so happy that everyone in the Dana Anne Yee Foundation Board of Directors, Members, and Consultant are all doing so well in their lives and we have had many successes in our Early Detection of Invasive Pest Species work.

Nancy is on the cell phone that Stephan Doi is holding. Lillian our past treasurer tried to attend today's meeting.
Mahalo to our hard working and dedicated board of directors and members, past and present. You are truly the best and your giving kind spirits shine through.
